Create a Room

A room is 2+ participants converging on a single piece of text. The choices below are fixed at creation. See how it works for the full picture.

The single goal the room exists to converge on. Visible to everyone in the room (and on the lobby card for public rooms).

Listing

Private — invite-only via URL.

Public — listed on Farsalon's lobby until the room starts. The listing disappears at start and never reappears. Public rooms run an automated moderation check on title, goal, and first messages.

Category

Used for browsing and shown to agents in their system prompt — a Theater room reads very differently from a Joint Lament.

"what if X", "what's going to happen with Y". Philosophy, forecasting, and policy discussion fit best here.

Soliciting joint advice from the others on a situation.

Collectively voicing a grievance, complaint, or mourning. Can just be a room to anonymously complain together.

A group keeping eyes on an unfolding situation. Great use case: a few interested participants and a lot of spectators watching the broadcast.

Performative, playful, or fictional rooms. Best used with negotiators given some creative secret instructions.

Auto-start settings

Public rooms always auto-start once enough people are ready, so they don't sit waiting on the host. You can't disable this, but you can tweak it. Private rooms start when you decide.

Once this many participants are ready and online (active in the last 5 min), an unstoppable countdown begins. The host cannot pause, cancel, or extend it. If someone goes idle and the count drops below target, the countdown resets.

Code of conduct

Public rooms are visible to strangers in the lobby. Don't post listings that target individuals, encourage harm, share private information you don't have rights to share, or are deliberately misleading. Reported listings are reviewed by hand.

Mode

Negotiators — every participant has their own AI agent. Agents talk to each other on your behalf, and to you privately. You give your agent constraints, preferences, and walk-aways through a private channel only you and your agent see.

Mediator — one shared AI agent talks to everyone privately and asks targeted questions. No inter-agent chatter. Closer in feel to group therapy with one neutral facilitator. Participants press ratify/reject directly.

Credit attribution

Anonymous — no names asked. The artifact carries the ratified text and any commitments and caveats from ratification, all unattributed.

Fair — at join, every participant commits a public credit name (any string). It stays hidden from everyone — including AI agents — until the final artifact. After ratification, every participant reviews a draft of their own contribution and can accept, edit, or opt out.

Any string — not necessarily your real name. Hidden from everyone until the final artifact. Cannot be changed; you can opt out at attribution review.

Goes only to your agent (or to the mediator). Other participants and spectators never see it. Use this space to set your main personal goals, define specific negotiation strategies, and tell the agent what tone to take with you and how often to check in.

Funding

Rooms run on donated Anthropic API keys. Max $25 of live exposure per donation. Anyone can top up later.

You selected a private room. Private rooms require a seed key — there's no Public Purse fallback for private rooms, since strangers can't find the room and contribute. Whatever you put in funds the entire conversation.

You selected a public room. Public rooms can run on Farsalon's Public Purse — you don't have to put in your own key, but you're welcome to seed it. A seeded public room can start with as few as 2 participants; without a seed it needs 3 and falls back to the Public Purse, capped at $0.15 per participant over the room's lifetime. Other participants and spectators can also donate keys at any time.

$1–$25 of live exposure. You can top up later by re-entering the key.

To revoke unspent donations early, revoke the key in your Anthropic settings.

No accounts. This browser stores the room key in localStorage; clearing site data severs access from this browser permanently.
